Banff Artist in Residence (BAiR) Emerging is an immersive program of studio practice, creative exploration, feedback and mentorship for artists in the early stages of their careers. The program combines the artistic freedom of a self-directed residency with the supportive benefits of an organized program.
Inherent Right to Indigenous Governance
You will come away from the program with an understanding of what a reconciled model of governance would look like after exploring and discussing traditional forms of Indigenous governance, while gaining a fuller understanding of the colonial forms of governance.
The Photography Practicum provides the opportunity for participants to advance their skills in a professional photography environment that deals with complex systems, logistical and technical challenges and mission critical deadlines.
Performing Arts Production, Design, and Stage Management Practicum Programs
Our practicum training programs provide exceptional learning opportunities through the on-stage technical and design support of production residencies with resident companies, the building of original physical productions with partner companies, and the in-house creation of original main stage productions.
Performing Arts Production Practicums - Staging Technician and Scenic Carpentry
The Performing Arts Practicum programs are intended as a continuing education experience for emerging staging technicians with relevant academic training and related professional experience.
Future Narratives: Contemporary Indigenous Artistic Practice
This intensive residency offers space for Indigenous and non-Indigenous writers, artists, curators and researchers to imagine what the ‘future narratives’ of Canada may be from the perspective of Indigenous contemporary artistic practice. As we approach Canada 150, what is the vision for what those stories are and how they can be shared and supported going forward.
Indigenous Strategic Planning
This program will prepare you to implement a community, organization, or board strategic planning session; help you focus resources on specific strategies; and provide an understanding of how to keep the plan alive through evaluation, revision, and performance measurement.
Leading in the Middle
This experience-based program explores the leadership strengths, behaviours, and integrative thinking necessary for you to “master the middle space” in your organization. Improve your communication, relationship building, and management skills.
BAiR Spring Intensive
The Banff Artist in Residence (BAiR) Spring Intensive is a four week self-directed program providing the time and space for artists, curators, and arts professionals to create and cultivate new directions in their work.
