The Qaggiq Collective Presents: Kiviuq Returns

Kiviuq Returns is a new performance that brings together Inuit music, brilliant costumes, and elder storytelling in a contemporary retelling of Kiviuq's heroism through the ages and the sorrows.

Kiviuq is the eternal wanderer and legendary hero of Inuit stories from across the Arctic. Lost and betrayed, treacherous creatures wreak havoc in his world as he travels by dog team, kayak or huge fish. He calls on his powers, the stories of his ancestors and  his spirit guides to find his way home.  Kiviuq Returns is a new performance that brings together Inuit music, brilliant costumes and elder storytelling, in a contemporary retelling of Kiviuq's heroism through the ages and the sorrows.

Featuring Inuit performance art, throat music, drum dance, acrobatics, digital design and spoken word.

Contemporary Indigenous Voices: Speakers Series invites artist to think collectively in order to reorient and retool the 150 anniversary of this country and what art and artists' role are in manifesting alternative futures.
